Almonry Heritage Centre: That's Enough for This Year

About the Almonry

The Almonry was once home to the Almoner of Evesham Abbey; it was part of his daily work to dispense alms to the poor, usually food and clothing. The first written record we have for this building is in 1400, but it is thought that parts of the building may be older.

When the abbey was closed and eventually demolished, the Almonry survived as it had been granted to the last abbott for use as a private residence. Having seen many changes over the years, it now houses the town's museum, a 12 room collection that contains exhibits that relate to the history of the town and local area from the prehistoric to the middle of the last century.
